My name is Mary Summitt and I am a true Sevier Countian. I was born in the old Yarberry Hospital and attended Sevier County schools all 12 years and am a graduate of Sevier County High School. I attended and graduated from the University of Tennessee Knoxville (UTK) with a bachelor of science in education and a minor in business. While attending UTK I was in the UT Pride of the Southland Band for 3 years and a member of Chi Omega Sorority.

Most of my working career has been in banking starting with a summer job at Sevier County Bank and I continued this summer job until graduating from UTK. After graduating from UTK I was employed by the United States Treasury Dept. Comptroller of the Currency (0CC) as a National and International Bank Examiner for approximately 7 years. During my International career I served terms in Milan, Italy; Athens, Greece; Paris, France, and London, England. I also taught Interagency Schools in Washington, D.C. teaching several banking laws and regulations including real estate laws and regulations, and spent several terms in the Washington Office reviewing reports. As a field examiner I examined banks in a 5 state area. After leaving the 0CC I married and lived in Shelbyville, Tennessee and worked for Whittle Communications and their various properties.

In 1993 my 2 children Bond Jones (age 20 now) and Kelly Jones (age 14 now) and I moved back to Sevierville and I went back to my first employer, Sevier County Bank as Compliance and Loan Review Officer and headed up the bank’s training program. Much of the work I did for Sevier County Bank was dealing with both real estate consumer and commercial lending and laws and regulations.

I am a former member of the Sevierville Chamber of Commerce and a former member of the Board of Directors for the South Eastern School of Consumer lending where I served one year as Vice-Chairman and one year as Chairman of the Board.

My hobbies are any activities my children participate in and Tennessee Walking Horses. I have been a member of the First United Methodist Church of Sevierville my whole life.

I am so excited to start learning the other side of consumer and commercial real estate as an affiliate broker with Colonial Real Estate.
